Young Living Holiday Gift Ideas: Thieves Travel Set

Do you know someone who travels a lot or perhaps is at least traveling for Christmas? This Thieves travel set is the perfect gift for that person. These are items you would need regardless of how you travel, but especially if you will be traveling by plane.

Holiday Gift Ideas Thieves Gift Set

Seriously though, who couldn’t use these items? A travel size Thieves toothpaste to not only introduce them to non-toxic toothpaste but to also help them out. Please tell me I’m not the only one that forgets you can’t carry on anything larger than 3.4 oz? Shoot, that’s probably not even the right size. Thieves spray serves to be super helpful in flight and everywhere else. Toilets? Spray. Head rest? Spray. Blanket? Spray. Bathroom stinky? Might as well spray. Kid behind you just vomited (this one actually happened during my last flight)? Spray. Hand purifier also comes to the rescue after those in flight potty breaks or before they bring you a snack!

Needed Items for Thieves Travel Set

What you need:

Thieves Travel Gift Set

I think this is such a great little gift for any traveler or a mom that is always on the go even. You could replace the toothpaste with lip balm if you want to gift it to a mom. Though I know plenty of people who also carry toothpaste in their purses or diaper bags. You might want to include a note with a handy little insiders info note letting them know that the toothpaste and the spray both double as deodorant!

Who would you gift this trio to?

Young Living Holiday Gift Ideas: Thieves Samples

I want to be sure we talk about gift ideas in various price points as we share our Young Living products with others. So today, let’s talk about giving out Thieves samples! Who couldn’t use a little Thieves this time of year? Nothing like a little immune support right in time for the holidays!

Holiday Gift Ideas Thieves Samples

Perhaps this is odd or it’s just me, but sometimes I hate giving samples as gifts because it feels so cheap even though we all know the value is worth more than what it looks like. I’ve seriously skipped on giving someone an oil in the past because it looks like I didn’t spend that much on them. It’s a totally lame excuse so this year I’m focusing on packaging it up to increase it’s value and make others interested in what it is I’m sharing with them.

Thieves Samples Needed Products

Items needed:

Thieves Samples for Christmas

Be sure to also include a little guide with this sample as to how to use the Thieves oil. Personally, I love handing out the Oil Revolution Design small guides with items like these. You could also just include a small note in the gift card holder giving them instruction use info like “Add 1-2 drops to water for immune support”. You could also attach a recipe card for a Thieves tea using Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Lemon and Thieves Essential Oil.

This makes the perfect gift for your neighbors or acquaintances, these samples shouldn’t just be given to close friends! This is a great way to introduce your business to people you are around on a regular basis, but haven’t shared your business with yet perhaps. If you haven’t used these Thieves lozenges for yourself yet then do yourself a favor and order them–they are amazing!

What’s your favorite way to use Thieves oil? Remember, it’s a dietary oil!

This Ningxia gift set just happens to be one of my favorite ways to drink my Ningxia and hopefully will soon be my friends favorite way too.

Holiday Gift Ideas using Young Living Products

So today, let’s tackle my favorite Ningxia drink! I take 2 oz of Ningxia, a Nitro and 2-3 drops of Lime and add to ice and water. Most days it’s just regular water but sometimes I do sparkling water or even better a Coconut La Croix.

Why I Waited 2 Years to Start Whole 30

You may be reading this and thinking I’m crazy for waiting two years to start Whole 30, but hear me out. Shortly after being introduced to my new healthier lifestyle I heard about the Whole 30 plan. It sounded amazing as far as results go, but miserable as far as giving up cheese and creamed coffee. I was already concerned with my new lifestyle changes because I was using these hippie oils and watching for toxic chemicals in my home. I’d already gone off the deep end as far as I was concerned so making a HUGE diet change wasn’t happening for me.

Starting Whole 30

Friend after friend continued to check out the Whole 30 plan and I continued to be intrigued, but the baby steps I was already taking were frightening enough. I mean I had switched from whole wheat bread to whole grain bread with significantly fewer ingredients. I had switched to nearly everything organic that I could. I drank raw milk for crying out loud–like straight from a cow raw milk! I got myself on Weight Watchers to lose weight, but instead of being sneaky with fewer unhealthy ingredients I decided to actually learn how to eat good foods and lots of them since I could eat as many fruits and veggies as I wanted. I turned to Gina from Skinny Taste for all of my recipes to survive Weight Watchers. I was feeling pretty good about the changes I had made but still the thought of Whole 30 overwhelmed me. I was making plenty of baby steps and was proud of them! The fact that our dinners didn’t consist of boxes or frozen lasagna was impressive enough. Let’s face it–I was drinking La Croix instead of Dr. Pepper, that’s HUGE! I’m a Texan after all.

Then this summer I met a new friend and she asked if I had considered a diet change in regards to my infertility. My response was simply “I’ve done enough and if I want to do something drastic I’m going to need to have cancer or something.” This was yet again, another baby step and push I needed to even come close to considering more changes. This was the beginning of series of conversations regarding my diet and not that my diet is terrible, but there are things that could be eliminated that might surprise me. In fact, the same day this friend ask about my diet another friend was in the car, her mom a Naturopath.  I’ve been considering going to see her mom about our infertility but knew diet was something she’d want to talk about and I’d made enough changes already and was frankly being stubborn. She’ll probably read this and be saying ‘yep and amen’ as she reads. I know full well that there are 3 things that I could eliminate that could turn my health around…gluten, sugar and dairy.

Gluten? Not too bad. I mean we’ve practically taken it out of the majority of our meals any way so why not. Sugar? Okay, so I’ll be sad at first but I think I’ll get over it. Thankfully I don’t really love desserts and if I keep sugary snacks out of the house I’m pretty good. It will take some adjusting but I can do it. Dairy? Nope, can’t do it. I’ll die. What is it about dairy that I go weak at the knees for? Cheese needs to be on top of all the foods, all of them. Queso, quesadillas, tacos, cheese on top of chili, on sandwiches, by itself. Just give me all the cheese. No creamer?! Welp, there goes my coffee (thankfully I survived a month without it and know I won’t die). Milk? No big deal. Yogurt? No big deal. But the cheese, I’ll be dreaming about it for weeks I’m sure. So, if you are my friend and we hang out in the month of January please don’t eat cheese in front of me or I might accidentally stab you.

So, why has it taken me two years? Why couldn’t I just pull myself up by my bootstraps? Well, for me, I like to take everything a step at a time (A Drop at a Thyme, remember?). So, I’ve managed to give up coffee once and didn’t die. I reduced significantly our gluten intake and am still breathing. I gave up Dr. Pepper mostly and still enjoy my life. But all these things had to happen one at a time for me. I couldn’t give up Dr. Pepper and rolls with every meal the same week. I had to get rid of one first and get used to it. Then the next and so on and so on. I had to get used to meal planning and actually getting said meals on the table. We used to dine out for like 70% of our meals so how was I going to go from dining out all the time to preparing meals, healthy meals for my family ALL the time?! It wasn’t going to happen.

So here I am nearly two years later ready to make this bold for me change. I’ve been mentally preparing myself (and my husband) for this for a couple of months now. I didn’t really know when I would do it, but after running into a friend at the grocery store recently and seeing how amazing she looked and felt I decided to go for it. I’ve been pinning recipes to prepare myself and ordered the Whole 30 book. I will spend the month of December preparing myself for success and then January 1st I’ll dive in. If we’re friends, you may want to avoid me the first 5 days or so or offer me delicious Whole 30 approved “treats”. Do treats exist on Whole 30? I hope so!

I’ll be sharing my journey with you on the blog (menu plan), instagram and facebook. Would love for you to join me if you dare. We can cry together over the cheese we can no longer eat.

Have you done the Whole 30? If so, please share your favorite recipes with me and tips for survival!

Healthy Menu Plan Week 2

What is it about the fall that makes me want to forgo all regular menu items and just eat soups? If it wasn’t for a husband that might protest it’s like the only thing that would be on our menu but for the sake of our marriage I’ll continue to put other items on our menu plan. It’s not even that cold here yet so I guess I should save my desperate need for a week of soups until later in the year.

I’m hoping to really get all these menu items on the table this week unlike last weeks Three Cheese Zucchini Stuffed Lasagna that managed to never hit our table. The first night I had it planned for we decided to do Camp Gladiator and I knew there was no way we could eat lasagna noodles and cheese before a workout. The second night the full moon got the best of our toddler and I closed down the kitchen for my own sanity. Then Sunday night I was going to squeeze it in but when I took an afternoon nap because I wasn’t feeling well my sweet husband snuck out with our toddler so I could rest.  I may work it in this week, but we shall see.

Healthy Menu Plan Week 2

Monday – Zuppa Toscana Soup

Tuesday – Crockpot Balsalmic Pork Roast  + Roasted Asparagus

Wednesday – Turkey Santa Fe Zucchini Boats

Thursday – Rustic Italian Gnocchi Soup from the Skinny Taste cookbook (p.70)

Lunch – Cream of Zucchini Soup

I was craving some Zuppa Toscana soup this weekend so I decided to make it myself instead of my usual mad dash to Olive Garden to get it. I’ll probably be the only one to enjoy this making it a staple lunch item for me for the rest of the week.  I haven’t made this recipe yet so we shall see how it goes.

I’ve had the pork roast and the zucchini boats before and are both delicious! The pork roast makes its appearance fairly often so you’ll probably see it again soon. Asparagus was on sale this week at Sprouts which is the reason it’s our side item. We will use the leftovers for some pork tacos! I am really excited to try out the Rustic Italian Gnocchi Soup at the end of the week because it looks awesome. My sweet friend, Natalie, told me about the Cream of Zucchini Soup so I am making it for lunch for the week for myself.

What’s on your menu this week?

Healthy Menu Plan Week 1

When we started eating healthy I realized I had a desperate need for menu planning. I am the least organized person you will ever meet but if I don’t menu plan then our family can throw all hope for healthy food out the window. Shoot, you can go ahead and throw all up for dinner on the table out the window. I am excited to share with you our weekly menu plan so that perhaps you too can make sure healthy meals hit the dinner table each week. Now, our dinner menu looks a little bit strange because we only plan Monday-Thursday unlike most families. Friday night is always Date Night as we go before attending our churches home group and the weekends are so unpredictable that we don’t plan for them until later in the week if necessary.

Healthy Menu Plan_Week 1

Monday – One Pan Honey Garlic Chicken & Veggies – Damn Delicious

Tuesday – Homemade Pizza. We use Venice Bakery All Natural Pizza Dough, Organic Pasta Sauce, Shredded Mozzarella Cheese and Pepperoni. Side: Salad!

Wednesday – Buffalo Chicken & Bean Chili  – Skinny Taste and served with Beanitos!

Thursday – Three Cheese Zucchini Stuffed Lasagna – Skinny Taste plus a Salad!

You will quickly learn that I may or may not have a serious obsession with Skinny Taste and Damn Delicious! I normally open up my Skinny Taste cookbook or her website first then head over to Damn Delicious for some of her awesome one pot or one pan recipes. This week we have pepperoni pizza on the menu because I know my homemade pizza is far better for us than ordering from Papa John’s or somewhere similar. My husband loves Pepperoni Pizza so we’ve gotta make sure it hits the menu from time to time for his sake. I’m kind of looking forward to a “lazy” dinner night too because sometimes these recipes get complicated.

We’ve had everything but the Three Cheese Zucchini Stuffed Lasagna at this point and they are delicious. I love how easy the One Pan Honey Garlic Chicken & Veggies is and it makes for a great pre-workout dinner if you happen to workout at night (I know because we had it for dinner before our high intensity workout last night). The Buffalo Chicken & Bean Chili is pretty spicy so we do a little less Frank’s hot sauce so my daughter can enjoy it too. The cheese and sour cream to help calm it down a little. It’s seriously delicious! I have no doubt that Gina won’t lead me wrong with her Three Cheese Zucchini Stuffed Lasagna either because seriously all of her recipes are amazing. Check in on facebook or instagram to see how dinner went if you want to keep up with our menu planning throughout the week!

Chocolate Wolfberry Energy Bites

Anyone else have a slight addiction to energy bites? Perhaps I’m the only one but I don’t think so because a simple search on pinterest tells me everyone loves energy bites. I think they are loved so much because there isn’t any cooking involved and it’s a quick, easy, healthy snack! After making and falling in love with my most recent pinterest find, Healthy No Bake Energy Bites, I decided I wanted to give it a whirl and create my own.

Chocolate Wolfberry Energy Bites

1/4 c. Almond Butter (or Peanut Butter)

1/4 c. Young Living Ningxia Organic Dried Wolfberries

1 Scoop Young Living  Chocolate Deluxe Pure Protein Complete

1/4 c. Organic Rolled Oats

1/3 c. Coconut Flakes

1/3 C. Almond Slivers

1/3 c. Raw Honey

The first step I am about to share isn’t a necessary step, but one we prefer to take. Place the wolfberries, rolled oats, coconut flakes and almond slivers in a food processor. Chop until your desired consistency. I love the taste of coconut but not so much the texture so I wanted it fine. I also like having my oats this way!

In a large bowl, mix ingredients from food processor with the remaining ingredients until well combined.

Roll into bite size balls. This recipe doesn’t make but a small mason jar full so feel free to double for more, especially if you plan on making larger balls. Place the balls on parchment paper or wax paper and put in the freezer for one hour!

You can either store these in the fridge or freezer, but I’m guessing they won’t need to be stored for long.

Best Affordable Sports Bra

As a female, one of the most important garments for your fitness routine will be your sports bra. I’ve loved and used the same sports bra for nearly the past decade. I discovered this sports bra when I was training for a marathon and fell in love. I’ve been a loyal user of the C9 sports bra from Target until now. Let’s face it–I still think it’s a great sports bra too BUT I’ve discovered a new need in the past couple of years. Part of my reason for always sticking with the C9 sports bra is the need for an affordable sports bra, but lately the affordable factor has been less of an interest. Until now, I finally found the best affordable sports bra!

The Best Affordable Sports Bra

Let’s just say the ladies up top changed a bit post baby and more than once or twice for that matter. After my little was born I had to go up a size in my favorite sports bra which wasn’t a big deal since it was probably time to get new ones anyway, but something was different. The sports bra held up find for the usual running routine I had but when it came to the gym I never felt fully comfortable in it. When I would lean forward for any sort of exercise I wanted to cry a little. My once perky ladies had taken a down shift and when I bent over it was apparent. I mean I was really a walking advertisement for abstinence in our gym for all the teenage girls. I too used to have a perky chest girls, but the time has come and gone.

With that said, I have spent the last year longing for the perfect sports bra to replace my affordable and well loved sports bras. I tried a different style of C9 sports bras but found the straps really bothered me. My mom gifted me a couple she had found at Marshall’s but they too didn’t do the trick. So I decided to just stick with my sports bra and move on. Saggy tata’s weren’t the end of the world after all. Plus I mostly ran and didn’t spend a ton of time at the gym bending over.

Sports Bra Stash

A few months passed and I came back to my need and search for a new sports bra. Call me vain, but I kind of wanted a sports bra that made me look like I actually had boobs instead of giving me a serious uni-boob. I was tired of putting on my workout clothes every single day to lose my girlish figure to some extent. If you got it, flaunt it?! Flaunting it for my husband of course! He had mentioned the sports bra I was wearing was unflattering and I figured if I was going to be wearing workout clothes all the time then I should love him in that and do something about it. I just didn’t realized it would be such a hard task.

I decided to grab yet another C9 sports bra since I loved them so much, but this time it was padded. I finally had my chest back in my workout clothes but it still didn’t do much for supporting the sag. However, it was winter and I was mostly running so who cares?! That is until the pads started disappearing out of the sports bra meaning I would be lopsided or I could spare the pad out of the other sports bra to always have one functional sports bra. Again, a sports bra not doing what I needed it too but just in time for a knee injury allowing me to really have no need for anything other than the basic sports bra I knew and loved.

C9 Sports Bra with Padding

That is until I did therapy on my knee and started Camp Gladiator finding myself in the same predicament yet again! I asked another friend who swore by her sports bra brand, but I just couldn’t swallow the price. So I headed to TJ Maxx to see what they had available and that’s when I found the Marika Tek sports bra pictured below. I bought the pink one on that day and had high hopes for it but also kind of expected to be disappointed. The first day I wore it I was in love! I no longer had a uni-boob and my ladies felt good and secure. I was even more impressed that my padding didn’t disappear in the dryer. The next time I was at TJ Maxx I found a black one and the time after that a purple. I’ve scored big time if you ask me!

The price? $12.99! Style? Alice. Go get you one!

best affordable sports bra_marika tek

I can’t promise this will be the sports bra for you because frankly every two boobs seem to be a bit different from the next. This happens to work for what I need it for and for my chest size. I hope you too can find an awesome affordable sports bra that makes you still feel all good and feminine while being supported!

Young Living Peace and Calming Essential Oil

An oil every home should be stocked full of, Peace and Calming. Well, at least every home with children in it. Let’s face it we could all use a little bit of peace and calming in our homes. The witching hours? Peace & Calming. Bedtime? Peace & Calming. Momma Needs a Chill Pill? Peace & Calming.
Peace and Calming

Peace & Calming is a gentle, fragrant blend. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day.

Peace & Calming is a blend of Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy.

5 Uses for Peace & Calming Essential Oil

1. Soak in a relaxing bath!
– This is a personal favorite usage of Peace and Calming for me! Mix 3-4 drops with a 1/2 cup of espom salts for a relaxing bath for you or your children.

2. Enjoy better sleep.
– Add 2-3 drops to your diffuser or apply 1-2 drops on the back of the neck for a peaceful night’s rest.

3. Calm anxious thoughts.
-Add 3-4 drops to your diffuser, apply 1-2 drops on wrists and over heart or wear a couple of drops in a diffuser necklace. Inhale deeply when feeling anxious!

4. Uplift Spirit.
– Add 3-4 drops to your diffuser to help lift your mood when needed. We are often diffusing this one in our house to help us get in better moods!

5. Help calm overactive children.
– This is a great one to put in the diffuser when you are wanting to calm down in the evening before bedtime or when you’ve been cooped up in the house for too long.

Everyday Oils Make-n-Take

I had heard briefly about make-n-takes prior to going to convention, but after attending convention decided this was something I wanted to incorporate with my team. I love the idea of learning how to make products that are chemical and toxin free for my family to use, but honestly the idea of going at it solo terrified me. As a newbie to the natural world, it scared me to make my own products so I knew that this wasn’t just an issue for myself but likely my downline also. So, my first make-n-take was easy not just for me (scared remember?), but also for my team. I also used this as a way to introduce people specifically to the everday oils by choosing three products using oils from the kit.

Everyday Oils Make-n-Take

The first thing we made was a Lavender Bath Soak. I had already been thinking about doing bath salts when this awesome DIY recipe was posted by Young Living on their facebook page.

Lavender Bath Soak Ingredients without Container

I decided to go with Lavender as my essential oil choice because it was in the everyday oils collection and is very relaxing. Personally, I love taking a bath when I am trying to relax and unwind from a long day. Another great option for relaxation from the kit would be Peace & Calming.

I set up stations for each item we made and had a different leader at each station to help with the instructions as well as answer any questions.

What you will need:

– A jar to hold the bath soak (I got these 12 oz Clear PET Plastic jars from Abundant Health 4 U for $.88/each. )
– Baking Soda (purchase at Target on my usual weekly run)
– Sea Salt (purchased at Target on my usual weekly run)
– Epsom Salts (purchased bulk at Costco)
– Young Living’s Lavender essential oil

Here’s how you do it:

1.  Add 1/4 cup each of sea salt, baking soda and epsom salts to the container.
2.  Add 10-15 drops lavender essential oil to the top (I like to do this in the middle and again on top to help with mixing).
3.  Shake up container with lid on to mix ingredients well.

Lavender Bath Scrub containers
The labels were picked up at Office Max and I picked one that would fit on all three containers. I used the Avery website to make my own labels and think they turned out pretty cute!

Next up, I decided to make Thieves foaming hand soap. I wanted to know how to make this for myself and figured it was a great way to introduce people to the amazing benefits of using Thieves essential oil.

Thieves Foaming Hand Soap Station

What you will need:

– A foaming hand soap dispenser.  You can reuse one that you already have or you can purchase a new one.
– Liquid Castile Soap (I used Dr. Bronners) – I got mine at Sprout’s when it was 25% off
– Vegetable Glycerine  – got mine at Sprout’s also
– Young Living’s Thieves Essential Oil

Here’s how you do it:

1.  Add 2-3 Tablespoons of Liquid Castile Soap to your soap dispenser.
2.  Add 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerine. This step is not necessary, but I believe you will find the soap drying without this ingredient.
3.  Add 10 drops of Thieves oil.
4.  Slowly fill your container with water.  Be sure to leave enough room for the large pump (otherwise you will have a spill over)
5.  Gently shake to combine all ingredients.

Thieves Foaming Handsoap Containers

The third item I decided to go with was a Peppermint Lip Scrub. I chose this after seeing a friend post it on facebook and it sounded good enough to eat!

Peppermint Lip Scrub Ingredients

What you will need:

– Small 1oz glass jars from Abundant Health
– White Sugar (bought Organic Sugar from Target)
– Coconut Oil Virgin & Unrefined (Bulk at Costco)
– Honey (Bulk at Costco)
– Young Living’s Peppermint Essential Oil

Here’s how you do it:

1.  Fill the jar 3/4 the way with sugar.
2.  Top off with a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of honey.
3.  Add 4 drops of peppermint.
4.  Mix & enjoy!

No really, lick your lips delicious kind of enjoy!

Peppermint Lip Scrub

Hope this helps you successfully plan your very first make-n-take!

The Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser Review

First and foremost, my number one recommendations for diffusers are those that Young Living has as we know these ones have been tested with our essential oils. I do not recommend using other diffusers with citrus oils in particular as we know that citrus oils eat plastic. However, I realize that many people cannot afford to buy a second Young Living diffuser and are looking for other options so I want to share some with you. The first ever non-Young Living diffuser I got was the Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser.

The Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser

Considering I bought this diffuser pretty blindly, I’ve been overall very satisfied with my purchase. Though my original intent for this diffuser was for our bedroom we soon learned that wasn’t an option and I’ll tell you why in a minute. I joined Young Living back when the diffuser didn’t have an option for shutting off the light and my husband needs a pitch black room to sleep so I went hunting for something that shut off the lights and this one did! The little tiny lights do remain on but if facing the opposite direction it’s no big deal.

The Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser review

As you can see from the close up there are 4 buttons and 5 tiny lights. The power button by itself will turn on the first light and diffuse regularly. The second button will allow for five various timed options which can get you through the night on the last setting I do believe. Then you have the fan option which has three dispersion levels. Unless you are fighting something I think the lowest level is plenty even for a large room. We have an open floor plan and this is what I most commonly diffuse at. The last option is a light and it can be turned on or off.

What I love about this diffuser: It holds a decent amount of water so when I have the dispersion on low an the time options set to be off and on it can last for a long time! If someone is coming over and the house needs a quick uplift I can turn it on a higher setting and get the smell in the air much faster which is a nice option. I like that you can turn the light on if you wish or off. It’s seems to be made very well!

What I don’t like about this diffuser: It beeps loudly whenever you push a button and even worse…when it shuts off! When I turn this on during my daughters naptime I am so fearful I am going to wake her up. When it shuts off when the water reservoir is empty it beeps several times very loudly. We originally bought this for our bedroom but after the first night it was moved to the living room for daytime diffusing!

Would I buy it again? No. Because of how loud it is I don’t prefer to own a second one. I do love this diffuser though and am glad I have it, but if it ever dies I’ll just chunk it and find a different one that is quiet.

Should you buy it? If the beeps won’t bug you then I say go for it! It’s a great diffuser outside of how noisy it is and it is typically priced $50-60 so that’s not too bad of a price for a good diffuser. You can get it on amazon in black, white or silver: Classic Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser!

Fill the ornament half way with shred then toss in the lip balms. You can do one or all three. Then fill the remainder of the ornament with shred and close!

Christmas Ornament Supplies

This is such an easy gift that’s super practical, shares Young Living with someone and is cost affordable. I needed to make three gifts so I ordered two trios and put two lip balms in each ornament.
